WHERE HAS THE TIME GONE... Bloordale Community School 2010.....
Written for: Susan Quaglieri
Fifty years!!! Where has the time gone?? It's hard to believe that October 20th, 1960 marked the official opening of Bloordale Middle School. Nestled in the heart of Markland Woods, the school has quickly become a landmark in the community; a community comprised of several generations of Bloordale alumni. The return of families is certainly a testament to the warmth and character of the area.
To honour the strong school spirit and celebrate a golden anniversary, Bloordale community has come together to commemorate this special event. School staff, students, neighbours, friends and family have joined forces to create an evening that is truly reflective of the energy and history of Bloordale. Using today's technology and yesterday's memories, individuals are feverishly reaching out to past and present staff, students and community members. Volunteers have come forward to head committees and lead groups in the accurate depiction of school life through the decades. To walk the halls of Bloordale today is to feel the energy and spirit of years gone by.
Music has always been the voice of its generation. From Bye Bye Birdie to Disco Fever and Evita to Mama Mia, both the anniversary celebration and musical production will take you on a journey through time.
Like a quilt, several hands have worked tirelessly to weave together the stories of school life over the last fifty years. From casual conversations to collecting memorabilia and from rehearsals to set design, the school is now perched and ready to begin the celebration.

Pictures to come with the recipient of the winner for 1 coffee for a month given by Jimmy at Java Joes. Winner of free coffee for a month went to: Susan Wilson.
The toy drive was a a huge success and the people from the Children's Starlight Foundation was extremely pleased.
